Coach’s Corner

Calvin Harris began his AAU basketball career as a standout in high school playing for the AAU Bulldogs which dominated the AAU circuit. Playing for Bishop Ward Catholic School, they took state. Being an all-around athlete, Calvin chose to compete at Missouri State University in Track. He then took his experience and began his own AAU program by starting the "Lady Hawks". He enjoyed much success with 8 of the 10 players going on to compete in the college level in basketball with the other two players going on in volleyball. The team received 6th at Nationals in Dallas, TX their first year and then followed with 3rd at Nationals in Colorado Springs. Calvin then began the "Blaze" program competing in NCAA Showcases. The first year the team record was 48-8 in 2009, followed by 49-6 in 2010 (8 of these athletes going to play at college level). Coaching for 16 years, Calvin knows the game inside and out well and is a Certified MSSHA referee for nine years. Calvin will be coaching the 2012 and 2014 teams with Steve.

Kenneth Reynolds, Jr. began dominating the odds by being the 1995-96 National Small School Freshman of the Year with his school being the National Champions of Small Schools while at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, TX. He continued his career at Southwest Baptist University under Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Coach, Lynn Nance. He then went on to play professionally for the Red Devils in Linz, Austria, being the Defensive Player of the Year and selected to the All-Star game. He took his experience and knowledge of the game to the coaching arena. In 2007-2008, he was the Assistant Varsity Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach at Parkview High School in Springfield, Missouri. In 2008-2009, he then continued coaching at Muskogee High School in Muskogee, OK where success continued by reaching the state semi-finals. Kenneth then took on the challenge of coaching competitive teams consisting of the "Red Devils", a boy's high school team; "Dynasty" boys 4th grade team; and the "918 Rockets", a boys 1st grade team. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Wellness from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Kenneth knows how to focus on player development with players both male and female from elementary to professional levels. Kenneth is also a MSHSAA Certified basketball official, demonstrating his knowledge of the game in every aspect. Kenneth will be coaching the 2016 and 2017 girl teams.

Joshua Miller has been coaching for 7 years. He played high school basketball and football at Strafford High School where earned numerous honors and awards. He continued playing both sports in college at a small private school in western Illinois. He began coaching in 2004 at the junior varsity level at an independent school in St. Louis. Five years later he moved back to Strafford where he has been coaching for the junior varsity Boys at Strafford High. While achieving much success with the Strafford Indians, currently 33-6 over two seasons, he also coached a youth girls team. As the Stingrays founder and coach he won numerous tournaments and league championships while playing at a higher grade level. His team won the Show-Me Games tournament in 2010. Joshua will be coaching the 2018 girls' team.
